Our Work

Our Work in the community

We are a group of young people dedicated to making a difference in our community. Mental wellness is our priority as we empower youth and young adults to realize their full potential and inspire them to become leaders in their own lives and in the lives of others. Through any array of community engagement activities, we work to raise awareness, have conversations, and share resources that support overall wellness.

Let us speak to your group about how to gain mental wellness and support those who may be experiencing a mental health challenge.

We accept opportunities to speak to the public about mental health at community events, conferences, summits, professional development training, youth camps, churches, schools, focus groups, health fairs, and any event where mental health can be highlighted.

Presentation Topics:

Let's Talk: 988, Mental Health, and Young People

Let's Talk: 988, Mental Health and Young People is a resource tool in the form of a training presentation to reduce barriers that may hinder speedy response to population specific individuals in crisis. The presentation offers statistics on mental health, the 10 most common warning signs of a mental health condition and explains verbal communication styles such as identifying emotional catch words, slang, and key phrases to reduce language barriers.

Say It Out Loud

Say It Out Loud is a presentation created by NAMI to raise awareness by sharing information to get youth talking about mental health. The goal is to increase the likelihood that they will seek mental health care when they need it. Open Up Mississippi collaborates with churches, schools, camps, and nonprofits working with teens to engage in conversations that support wellness.
